Social Impact

CSR is ingrained into our core business practices through value-adding products and services and the development of local communities through sustainable social investments.

Energy for Us and the Community

Nigeria has the highest number of people without access to electricity anywhere in the world. In line with our problem-solving philosophy we found a solution. Our farm electrification project was also completed in 2020. In the process, we also brought power into our host community, ensuring that many of the houses in the area became part of the national grid for the first time in decades. This has gone on to improve the quality of life within our community.

Sustainable Farming Methods

Our goal is to ensure that our farms respect nature, while maintaining a constant balance between healthy, nutritious and delicious products for our consumers. This is why our farming methods align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 6, 11, and 13. In 2020, we set up our recirculating aquaculture system. This sustainable and efficient model saves 90 percent water and produces significantly less waste while increasing output. The planet is safe with us.

Health Care for Farmers

In 2018, Nigeria overtook India as the country with the highest number of Under-five deaths anywhere in the world. Most of these deaths are preventable. According to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, more than 80 percent of the disease involved can be treated in a primary healthcare centre. There isn’t any primary health care centre within 50km of our farming community. This is why we are setting up a primary health centre and clinic within our farming community to drastically reduce the number of such occurrences, and save the lives of our farmers, their families and members of the community.
